Hayley is a Ghost

My talks

I am able to talk to a variety of audiences with the following talks that tackle paranormal research from various angles.

My talks generally look at how skepticism does have a place in paranormal research – something that if often denied.

“I’m a Ghost Hunter; get me out of here!”

Why aren’t ghost naked?

This talk (currently being renamed) is aimed at a skeptical audience and looks at what paranormal research is and isn’t, the problems encountered by a rational investigator, the problems that less rational investigators cause (biased research, unethical behaviour, fraud etc.) and why I think paranormal research is important.

Proton packs & Scooby snacks : The modern ghost hunting phenomena

This talk is aimed at a mixed audience that may contain those who hold beliefs in paranormal ideas.

In ‘Proton packs and Scooby snacks’ I explore what skepticism actually is, how it can be used in paranormal research and the flaws of modern ghost hunting including the mistakes all paranormal researchers are likely to make without realising it – even if they’re skeptical. I touch upon the fact that everybody is capable of fooling themselves (or being fooled).

“I know what I saw!”

This talk is aimed at a mixed audience that is likely to have a lot of people in it that hold paranormal beliefs.

The talk looks at why using eye-witness testimony as “evidence” is a terrible idea and how easy it is for the brain to be tricked. I also explore how personal biases and beliefs can have a bad effect on paranormal research.

This talk includes a lot of audience participation experiments and activities.
